Vehicle Safety Systems Inspection Program (VSSI)

The traditional brake and lamp inspection programs, and the associated licenses, ended on September 27, 2024.

The VSSI program streamlines vehicle safety checks and replaces the older brake and lamp programs

​​

The BAR continues to be the licensing authority for all aspects of the VSSI program, including technician and station licenses. 

​

Individuals interested in becoming licensed under VSSI must apply and pass an examination, which includes both written and practical components. 

​

VSSI technician licenses typically need to be renewed every two years.
